UNILICUNGO
UniLicungo is a Mozambican public university that operates in Quelimane and Beira. Since 2017, ATACA has supported students in vulnerable situations to attend different courses in Quelimane. The first ATACA scholarship holders at this institution have already graduated in 2021 – in Educational Psychology and English – and are already working in the city of Quelimane. Young university students supported by ATACA are entitled to a scholarship that includes payment of tuition and exam fees, school supplies, monthly allowance for photocopies and prints, USB stick and library registration. These group of students together have training in all the necessary areas – languages, sciences, physical education and fine arts, among others – to guarantee academic support and support for children and young people living in homes and orphanages supported by ATACA in Quelimane. Voluntarily, young university students travel to these institutions weekly to spend a few hours contributing to improving their community. We started with 13 volunteer scholarship holders and today the team now has almost 30 members, who joined because they heard about volunteering and the impact they could have on their surroundings.
